Principals' Report
It’s hard to believe how quickly Term 3 has flown by! Our students have impressed us with their talent, effort, and enthusiasm, and our staff have gone above and beyond to provide so many memorable opportunities.
This term has been filled with highlights. We enjoyed a lively Book Fair and inspiring Illustrator Visits, followed by our colourful Book Parade, where students and staff brought their favourite characters to life. We celebrated achievement at our first Gold Assembly, and our school leaders gained valuable insights during their visit to the Mayoral Office. Open Day was another success, with music, dance, classroom tours, and a community picnic. Stage 1 experienced history firsthand at Rouse Hill, while Kindergarten to Year 2 embraced health and teamwork through Fit Futures.
Music shone brightly with our choir performing at the Festival of Choral Music at the Opera House, and our musicians at the Festival of Instrumental Music. We also shared in the wonder of Astronomy Night, featuring the Planetarium experience and space photography. On the sporting front, our athletes performed strongly at the Ryde Zone Carnival, nine students advanced to Sydney North Athletics, and our debaters and spelling champions represented Eastwood with great pride.
Adding to this, our Senior and Junior Ballet groups represented the very best of the State at the Seymour Centre, showcasing artistry and dedication — thank you to Ms Gasperre and Mrs Boulas for their leadership. Our Year 2 and 3 students completed two weeks of Swim School, developing vital skills for water safety — a program wonderfully organised by Mrs Hudson. We also recognise Mrs Morrow, Mrs Perrott, and Mr Borenstein, who devoted their weekends to preparing our athletes for peak performance, and our PSSA coaches, who continue to give generously of their time to run training sessions beyond school hours. A special mention for D. Wu and E.Wang who will be representing Sydney North at the State Carnival next Term.
The term also brought exciting opportunities in science, with 1C engaging in hands-on experiments led by the University of Sydney, thanks to Dr J. Huang, a parent in our school community. And most recently, our choir performed at Town Hall, a truly memorable experience, made possible by the dedication of Ms Poole and Mrs Forster.
Looking ahead to Term 4, we have much to look forward to — the Year 6 Mini-Fete, group photos on October 15, and our end-of-year presentations and celebrations, just to name a few. These will bring us together once again as a community to celebrate learning, growth, and achievement.
Thank you to our students for their efforts, to our teachers for their commitment, and to our families for your unwavering support. I wish you all a safe and relaxing holiday, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for an exciting Term 4.

Summer Uniform - Term 4
As we move into Term 4, students are asked to return to summer uniform. With the warmer weather ahead, there should be no need for multiple layers of jumpers and jackets — a single school jacket is more than sufficient on the cooler mornings.
We kindly remind families to make sure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child’s name, as jackets and hats can easily go missing at this time of year.
Please also ensure that every student wears their school hat each day. With the warmer weather and increased time outdoors, hats are an essential part of sun safety and are a proud part of our Eastwood uniform.
Summer uniform can be purchased from the Uniform Shop using the link below.
Enrolment 2026
If your child has already turned 5 this year or will be turning 5 before 31 July 2026, they are eligible to start school next year. We would appreciate if parents of our local area and of siblings of currently enrolled students could submit their applications as soon as possible. Please let your friends and family know that the process for enrolment for next year is underway.
If your child is an Australian citizen or permanent resident, you may enrol online via our website, by clicking on the enrolment tab.

Leaving Next Year
The school is carefully planning for next year, so it in important that we have all the facts. If you intend on leaving Eastwood Public School next year (other than Year 6), please inform the as soon as possible, so we can plan next year accurately.
We have so much to be proud of and celebrate at Eastwood Public School, and we love showcasing the incredible talents of our students. Our Eastwood Public School Facebook page is dedicated to celebrating these achievements. Here, you’ll find photos and descriptions highlighting various aspects of our school life, from classroom projects and sporting events to special occasions.
This page is a celebration site where we can all share in the successes and milestones of our students. Please note that it’s not intended for day-to-day communications or to disseminate notes and updates; its primary purpose is to highlight the wonderful achievements of our students.
Thank you for being a part of our vibrant community and for joining us in celebrating the amazing things happening at our school.
Please have a look:

Deputy Principal's Report

As we come to the end of Term 3, it is important to pause and reflect on how our students have been travelling with their wellbeing and learning readiness. Across the school, an outstanding 687 of 696 students checked in at least once through Life Skills GO during the past fortnight, giving us a rich snapshot of how our children are feeling.
What the Data Shows
- Happy was the most reported emotion this fortnight, showing that many of our students are ending the term on a positive note.
- A small number of students across classes checked in while experiencing emotional overload, reminding us of the importance of continuing to support children through stress and periods of feeling overwhelmed.
- Kindergarten recorded a lower percentage of “Ready to Learn” check-ins compared to their usual average, while Years 1 and 2 showed a slight increase in students indicating “online” behaviours.
- Compared with earlier in the term, emotions such as calm, content, and happy remain the most frequent, although feelings of tiredness also rose—unsurprising as students (and families!) reach the end of a busy term.
Reflections for Families
These insights highlight what we see daily in classrooms: our students are resilient and positive, but they also need opportunities to rest and reset. The end of term is the perfect time to allow children to unwind and recover, so they can return refreshed for Term 4.
Tips for Unwinding and Refreshing Over the Break
- Balance downtime with activity: Encourage time for rest alongside opportunities for physical play, sport, or creative activities.
- Stay connected: Share family meals, play board games, or simply walk together—connection builds emotional safety.
- Encourage routines, with flexibility: A little more sleep-in time can help, but keeping some rhythm to bedtimes and mealtimes supports a smoother return to school.
- Screen-time in balance: Use devices mindfully and balance them with outdoor play and reading.
- Mindfulness and calm moments: Try short breathing exercises, quiet drawing, or listening to music to help children regulate.
- Celebrate successes: Reflect on what your child has achieved this term—big or small. Acknowledging effort and growth helps build confidence and resilience.
Looking Ahead
As we prepare for Term 4, we encourage families to take time for rest and renewal. The wellbeing of our students is central to everything we do at Eastwood, and a strong finish to the year begins with a restful break.
We wish all our families a safe, happy, and refreshing holiday period.
Kindergarten Happenings
KHO News
It’s been a busy and productive time in KHO with our learning coming alive in meaningful, hands-on experiences and amazing growth happening for everyone.
In English lessons, KHO have been learning to give opinions. They thought about the term and decided that their favourite parts of Term 3 were the book parade, the Walkathon, paired reading and art!
In science, we explored how living things grow – and got to witness firsthand by sprouting chia seeds! Students loved observing the changes each day and making connections between what they see and what they learn.

Stage 1 Happenings
2G have been making a splash at swim school! Over the last 2 weeks, 2G have been participating in swimming lessons at the Lane Cove Aquatic Leisure Centre. Students have been learning to improve their swimming in levelled groups with instructors from the centre. Importantly, students have been taught crucial safety skills by their instructors each day before the lessons start. In a country like Australia, it is extremely important to have swimming skills, not just to cool off in Summer but for safety reasons.
2G have been having a blast and are super excited about the final lesson on Friday which will include some fun water games.

Stage 2 Happenings
Jumping into Measurement in 4T!
This week, 4T have been busy exploring the world of weight, mass, and length. Students began by hefting different classroom objects to compare which felt lighter or heavier, before putting their estimation skills to the test by weighing grocery items. There were lots of giggles as they discovered just how heavy some everyday foods can be!
To bring measurement to life, 4T also hopped into character—literally! Pretending to be kangaroos, students calculated how far they could leap if they could jump four times their own height. The challenge didn’t stop there—they measured out and compared jumps for different animals too, discovering just how far a flea, rabbit, or even a lion might soar.
From hands-on hefting to animal-inspired leaps, the week has been filled with excitement, teamwork, and lots of “measuring moments.” 4T are well on their way to becoming expert estimators and confident mathematicians!

Big Mob Day
On Monday, several First Nations students went to Gibberagong Education Centre in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park to participate in the Big Mob Day.
We started our day with a smoking ceremony as Uncle Les welcomed us all to Dharug land. We learnt native techniques to hunt and protect food sources, participated in fire making and went on a bushwalk where we observed and learnt about historical sites. We loved spending the day on Country with the other schools in our network.

Ballet News
Congratulations to the Junior and Senior Ballet groups on their successful performances at the State Dance Festival this week. The students had the opportunity to perform at the Seymour Centre in Chippendale, and were excited to have their families, Mr Kammerer, Mrs Balestriere and Mrs Marshman cheering them on from the audience.

Primary Proms
The Sydney Town Hall was lit up on Tuesday, 23 September. Inside, Malcolm (5/6L) lit up the stage with his sublime piano performance of Mendelssohn’s “Songs without Words” at the Coorong Primary Proms concert. You could hear a pin drop as the audience were drawn in to this mesmerising sound and as they admired the talent of such a young performer. Congratulations, Malcolm!

Stage 2 Shines at Primary PROMs!
On the night of Primary PROMs, our Stage 2 Junior Choir students proudly represented our school in an evening filled with music and celebration. After weeks of rehearsals, it was wonderful to see their hard work, dedication, and love of music come to life on stage. Their confident singing and teamwork were truly impressive, and they should feel very proud of what they achieved.
Before the performance, students also had the exciting opportunity to do an impromptu tour of St. Andrew’s Cathedral. Exploring such a beautiful and historic place added to the sense of occasion and made the day even more memorable for everyone involved.
A huge thank you goes to our parents and families who came along on the night to cheer them on. Your encouragement and support made the evening even more special for the students, and it meant so much to have you in the audience celebrating their efforts.
We are very proud of our Junior Choir students for their commitment and enthusiasm. Well done to everyone involved – what a fantastic musical evening!

This term, our Year 2 Mandarin students have been learning vocabulary related to clothing and practicing conversations about preparing for holidays. To reinforce their listening and speaking skills, students enjoyed playing a fun and interactive paper doll dress-up game. It was a great way to bring language learning to life!

Year 3 Students Strengthen Pinyin Skills
Our Year 3 Mandarin students have been building on their understanding of Pinyin and applying their knowledge by typing recently learned grocery vocabulary using the Pinyin input method. This activity not only reinforces their language skills but also introduces them to practical ways of using Mandarin in a digital context.

Year 4 Students Explore ‘The Market Day’
Our Year 4 Mandarin students have begun exploring a new topic: The Market Day.
